Is Elon Musk a Good Person?

He’s risen and fallen in the court of public opinion.

By Lily Vega

Elon Musk is many things, from an innovator to an entrepreneurial figure. He is set to be one of the first trillionaires in the world by 2027, sources say by CNBC. Elon has gained a significant amount of money from the “his achievements” but many blame it on the taxation of the poor instead of the rich; this undermines his work he has created and executed successfully. By saying this, I DO NOT think that he should be held on a pedestal for his accomplishments due to his morality.

Although he has a lot of money from his achievements in the past, this doesn’t exempt his foul play, and many scandals brought forward by other sources. Musk is known for his outlandish conspiracy theories, comments, and overall delivery of his opinion towards opponents or situations. Musk has done hateful things that no person should ever be allowed to do. For example, he has made it evidently clear that he doesn’t respect the use of pronouns that aren’t self-evident. Not only is this highly disrespectful but it also is repulsive to think that this post from 2022 is still open to the public. Even Elon Musk’s former wife, Grimes, stated she couldn’t handle the hate anymore publicly expressing (on Twitter) her disappointment with her former husband.

Aside from his personal battles he struggles with from day to day, he also has difficulties with his management of his apps like Twitter. After buying Twitter in October 2022 for 44 billion dollars, the company started to decline in several ways. Not only was there a decline in usage after the rebranding but there was also a decline in positive tweets spread across the platform. Racist and Anti-Semitic tweets and retweets started to increase by over 500%. Sources such as the Washington Post and Anti-Defamation League have reported many instances that hateful rhetoric across X has only increased since Musk’s purchase.

Now the takeaway from this whole article is that no matter what you make that helps the planet or new inventions that “make a difference “in the world, you can still be an immoral person that has been called out by many but still will never change his ways. Having money doesn’t exempt bad behavior for anyone, especially Elon Musk.
